Loyal Heights Quilt – free pattern :)

Thank you all for being here and following my journey as an author and fabric designer. 🙂

As a small show of my thanks, I always love to gift you free patterns. I’ve made a beautiful, printer-friendly PDF pattern for you all. You can find the link to the pattern at the end of this post. My hope is that by the end of this lengthy  post you will have fallen in love with this quilt. 😉

Bonus! I’ve also included a coupon code from Lauren at Bold Notion Quilting so you can have your quilt finished just like this one. Lauren offers quilting services and quilting classes.

The fabrics used in this quilt are from my 4th collection for Lecien Fabrics called Loyal Heights. This collection was inspired by an older Seattle neighborhood abundant with cute cottages, fruit trees and flowers. I’ll share more up-close details on the fabric and inspiration behind it on another post. You can find this collection in shops now (Spring 2019)!

I found this older picture of the quilt top and Paige and had to share it. This was the last quilt that Paige and I made together. It’s comforting to think that every single quilt before this was made with my faithful quilting buddy. <3

The free pattern has two quilt sizes. The larger quilt size works wonderful for a Full or Queen size bed. The picture below I have it folded at the foot of a queen size bed.

Though i’ve written two books about quilt-as-you-go, I decided to get this one finished traditionally via long-arm quilting. (However, you could totally finish this one via QAYG and use joining strips to join the blocks in lieu of the sashing strips that the pattern calls for. My 2nd book Quilt As-You- Go Made Vintage shows you how.)

Bold Notion Quilting – Long Arm Services plus coupon code!

I had the honor of getting this quilt finished by the talented long arm quilter Lauren Jackson of Bold Notion Quilting. I’ve shared a bunch of up-close photos of her free-hand work…it’s absolutely AH-MAZING. The time she put into quilting each block left me speechless.

Be sure to check out Lauren’s website because she has online quilting classes and you can have your quilt top finished by Lauren herself. And as a thanks for being here and reading this, Lauren has generously offered $5 off a purchase of $50 or more, plus free shipping on any order $100 and up – simply use this code at checkout: jera5off50

So after you make the Loyal Heights Quilt using my free pattern, ship it to Lauren for a beautiful finish!

Here’s some detail shots. I love how Lauren quilted the white space.

It adds so much texture and really makes the stars pop!

See what I mean…her quilting has left me speechless!

I may have gone a bit overboard with the photos, but there’s too much prettiness to share. I hope it inspires you!

You can’t really tell from these photos, but the white background fabric I used in this quilt – the little hearts have gold metallic sparkle. I love adding subtle details like that to my fabric.

All of the detailed quilting adds so much texture…

I wish you could reach out and feel this quilt for yourself. Better yet, snuggle in it. 😉

Anyhoodles, I 100% recommend Lauren’s quilting services if you’re interested. Be sure to use the code that I provided above to get the discount.

Before the free pattern, here’s a few more pictures of my fabric. ;-p Thanks for your patience!

These two below are probably my favorite prints in the whole collection.

It’s hard to tell, but some of the prints have metallic gold sparkle if you look closely!…

Thanks for making it to the end of this post!

As promised, here is the free pattern. Either click the link below, or click the pattern image below for your free download.

If you love the fabrics, you can shop for them online using the list below. I know that Fat Quarter Shop carries the whole collection here! (thanks for supporting my fabric!)

Happy Quilting!

Jera Brandvig 🙂

I recall the post where you talked about the inspiration for this fabric line. It really is gorgeous and I hope to see it soon in my local shop. So sweet to find another pic with Paige and I’m sorry for your loss. That post had me in tears too. I hope your heart is healing and are ready for a new furbaby soon. I can’t imagine being without my dogs so as they age, I bring another into the home to help ease the transition between them. Thanks for the free pattern and you’re right about the quilting – absolutely stunning. Angela Walters shows how to do the dot-to-dot quilting that is used here. I have a longarm and have tried, but just don’t have the knack. Take care, Becky.

Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern, Jera! Love how you added all the cottage designs alone in some prints and in behind the flowers in others – so super sweet!

Another gorgeous pattern, Jera! I remember when you previewed this collection…I fell in love with the toile prints. Your long arm quilting friend has truly enhanced your design with her stitched details.

Hi, I am interested in making the wall hanging tulips, I need to know what bundle to purchase and the strawberry print backing. I am a new quilter, and I am not sure what to purchase. Love your fabrics.

    Hi
I bought the book quilt as you go made modern. Any chance you are going to do some YouTube’s to show the other techniques in the book? Also is the fabric in any stores? Thanks!!!!
