This is a short and very sweet post to share some exciting news, along with my latest Quilt as you Go.
Here’s the exciting news: last week my book became available for pre-sale on Amazon! Over a year ago I submitted a book proposal and heard back sooner than expected from my publisher. Then, I had 3.5 months to crank out 13 new quilt projects and write the book. It’s been a whirlwind of an experience, and seeing it available for pre-sale makes it so real! The book will be in stores mid-Sept., and will ship out from big retailers (i.e. Amazon) on October 1st. I’ll most likely be doing some book signings at local quilt shops so please stay tuned. 🙂
With that, I wanted to share some pretty pictures of my latest Quilt as you Go. I’ve shared some of these photos on Instagram and/or Facebook, but I wanted to keep my bloggers updated as well. 🙂
Also, I have a Quilt as you Go class on May 6th at the Quilting Loft in Ballard, WA. I think there’s a couple spots open if you’re in the area and want to sign up and learn the technique!
The collection I’m using is called Rosey my Tanya Whelan. (If you love it, use code RAIN15 for 15% off your entire purchase).
Some eye candy for all you fellow fabri-holics:
Here’s the blocks all quilted and ready to assemble.
And it obviously wouldn’t be a proper picture without my model and faithful quilting buddy, Paige.
And here it is all assembled. It’s refreshing how quickly a quilt comes together using this technique!
I’m working on binding it now, so I’ll have more pictures of it up once it’s all finished.
I was inspired by the colors of my vintage dish collection to make this quilt.
Pre-ordered the book, and Hi! Paige — Duncan and Lizzie say hello also!
Thank you from Paige and I ;-p !!
This Quilt-As-You-Go is in the book?!
Hi Debbie – the book teaches the technique. This exact pattern is not in the book, but a very very similar one is. the book has 13 projects with 25 variations so you can see all the many different ways to apply the technique. Are you in Washington by chance? I will be teaching a class on this quilt.
I'm excited! Just signed up! See ya in a couple of weeks!
Yay!! Thank you Jeanie!! Looking forward to quilting with you and finally meeting you =)
Wow,looks great and your quilt is just fabulous!!
Thank you, Rosa!!
This is a blog post I've been waiting for for a long time – you must be over the moon! Book is now pre-ordered through Amazon.ca 🙂 Congratulations – this is so exciting!
Thank you, Sandra, for your very sweet comment and for supporting the book. =)
I like so much your style…you make it easy..sometimes we don't need the most complicated in the World to create beauty..good fabric combinations and a neat work..I can see in your projects…
Awaiting for the book !
Thank you for your comment! Yes, i love keeping it simple and creative. Simple + beautiful fabrics = happy quilter!
HI. Love your choice of fabrics for this easy to make quilt. I am old, so have been using this method for years, before long arm quilting everything came to be the gold standard for quilters. I like the quilt as you go method because it makes it possible for everyone to enjoy quilting without the expense of long arming that some just cannot afford after purchasing fabric. Good for you for bringing this old technique into style once again. I look forward to your book. Lauren
Hi Lauren – thank you for your comment! All of the 'modern' books nowadays all stem from traditional quilting techniques, but are usually either simplified in some way or re-vamped using modern and fresh fabrics. It's really cool seeing classic techniques resurface! And yes, Quilt as you Go has saved me hundreds on long arm services and there's definitely something to say about being able to finish your own quilt from start to finish! Take care and happy quilting!!
Congrats on the book, I am going over to Amazon and preorder it. I really enjoyed you class I took in Ballard. I can hardly wait to get your book.
Congratulations on the book! I will definitely look at it and will probably buy it! I LOVE the colored plates that inspired the quilt ~ gorgeous!
I so want to learn this way of quilting! For ME, it feels like cheating if I hire a long arm quilter to quilt for me. I really want to be able to say that I made the WHOLE quilt.
Just wanted to let you know that I am excited to order your book. I've never done a quilt with this style of quilting but am sure I will love it. But, I also want to let you know I love your tutorials and videos. I have them bookmarked and go back to reference them many times.
Thank you for your kind comment! 🙂
Hi Jera! I preordered your book and am SO excited about it! I love everything about your log cabin quilt—colors, pattern, etc. Can you post the dimensions of it? I would love to take your class, but I live in Louisiana. Thanks!!!
Thank you Lindsay! The squared block is a 12.5" sqr.
