H is for Hudson

Today a very special little boy named Hudson turns one. Happy birthday Hudz! Tita Jer luvs you!

I made him a light summer quilt using an assortment of new fat quarters and old scraps, all nautical themed. It’s fun going through scraps from previous projects…I found three different whale prints that I ended up using for this quilt. I’m a little obsessed with whales and it shows in my past fabric selections!

For the  patchwork I cut 7 inch squares and then sewed them in a 5×6 formation. I even threw in some minky fabric (the soft, fuzzy stuff) to add some texture and coziness. I put the quilt together using this tutorial, except I pieced together the quilt top.

The little bear on the left is the birthday boy. H and E are best buds, and only 2 months apart. 🙂

Boy does time fly!
