Quilting with my Furry Children

Yes, I’m one of those crazy pet owners. That’s my excuse for posting so many pictures, of every single angle, of my dogs. :-p Last weekend was fun. Paige spent the afternoon with me making this quilt using charm squares. I used the Hullabaloo collection, and will likely post a tutorial on this after I’ve finished quilting it. It’s a straight forward pattern since they’re all squares, but with a tutorial at least you’ll get all the measurements, maybe learn a few quilting tips, etc. 🙂
Simple is good. Simple is fresh. Best of all, simple is quick! I finished this quilt top in a few hours. This is a great quilt for showing off one of your favorite fabric collections.
Mid-way through piecing together the quilt top, I got a visit from Bodie (the black and white Corgi). He’s my sweetheart, but he prefers to hang out on the stairs while I’m crafting…honestly i think he’s afraid of my sewing machine…notice the uneasy look on his face?
Clearly, Paige was ready for a walk. She wouldn’t move her furry buns until I agreed.

Anyway, that’s it for now. Just a short and sweet post to show off my pride and joys..oh, and there’s a quilt in there somewhere 😉

Happy Crafting!

Jera, I have an English Springer Spaniel who demands to be walked, too, when I least want to, but she always wins! Love this post, the dogs and the quilt! Looking forward to the tute!

I've never quilted with charm packs, but I've been looking into it; it makes for more variety with in a single project. But I'm making my first all designer fabric quilt next, so buying by the yard would make for a crazy quilt budget. This is just the inspiration I needed. Clean cut squares, by the way are nice on a quilt, less is more, after all.

I have two chocolate labs who seem to think my quilting studio is their bed…sprawling out everytime I go to sew. It makes sewing a challenge, as they don't move and expect me to walk around them…perhaps it's a good thing, as I definitely get my stretching exercises in!

Cute! I think our next dog might be a Corgi. My dog-baby is definitely my quilting buddy – she is NOT afraid of the sewing machine, and will lay right next to my chair while I work. I actually think she's demanding that I work faster, because she pretty much claims any finished quilt as her own…

Although I don't have any "furry-children", I do have several "furry-grandchildren". I like the simplicity of your quilt, with the charms set off by the white squares. I agree about tutorials–it's nice to have someone else figure out the measurements. LOL!!!!

I always like to see pictures of your Corgis. Always remind me of Tee Tucker (one of the main animal characters in Rita Mae Brown´s Mrs.Murphy mystery novels) and yes, I read that stuff! 😉

    Greetings, Lalobe
