December happenings!

It’s hard to believe it’s almost mid-December already! That being said, I am honored to say that on December 15th,  I will be a guest on American Patchwork and Quilting Podcast with talk show host, Pat Sloan. I had so much fun meeting Pat in October at Quilt Market. We had scheduled this podcast for mid-December, and now that’s already next week! In a blink of an eye.

We’ll be talking about everything from my love of fabric, how I got started quilting, and how that became my new book, Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern. I will be discussing the technique as well. Tune in on Monday, December 15th, at 1:00 P.M. Pacific (4pm Eastern, 3pm central, 2pm mountain). Click HERE to listen! If you can’t tune in live, there will be a recording of it as well!

I hope you all can listen…I’m feeling a bit nervous!  😉

On a different note, I wanted to share some things I’ve been working on this month, including the outcome of my Holiday Quilt Auction. I wanted to thank Maryanne again for being my highest bidder! A total of $200 was bid (she got the quilt pictured below plus a signed copy of my book), and I donated all of that to Northwest Harvest, Washington’s statewide hunger relief agency. Northwest Harvest has the ability to feed a family of three a nutritious meal for only 67 cents, so that $200 went a long ways! You can donate directly here.

Despite my whole family catching a nasty bug this winter, I managed to make this advent calendar for my son, pictured below.  I was planning to do a tutorial for everyone, but the bug got the best of me…and now it’s already mid-December!

I got little chalkboard tags and wrote the numbers with a white paint pen, then used mini cloths pins to pin them on the pockets. Aint’ nobody got time to applique 25 numbers!

He loves it! 🙂 I filled it with chocolates and miniature toys.

Also, here’s a glimpse of a “secret” quilt as you go project I made. You will hear more about it…eventually, but for now, here’s a teaser. 😉

Thank you for stopping by my blog! I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. I can really feel the hustle and bustle of Christmas coming!
Also, I should mention that my book Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern is still temporarily out of stock on Amazon. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: I am so grateful for the wonderful response my book has gotten so far from all of you – a sincere thank you! If you’d like a signed copy, I have a few copies left at my etsy shop. I believe Amazon will be back in stock in a week or so.
Happy quilting! And happy holidays!

Please, please after the hustle and bustle of the holidays, post a tutorial for the advent calendar. It's one of the cutest I've seen and I would love to make one for my grand daugter. Thanks so much.
    PS I love your book!

I am so happy that I got your book early–I am planning a quilt for my 1 yr old Granddaughter for when she goes into her "big girl bed" and am definitely going to use your Ballard Blocks pattern. I have been collecting Fairy prints and thought the block would be great for them! After the Holidays I am starting to make it. thanks so much–I love the idea of quilting as you go–instead of all at the end. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday and don't be nervous–you will do just great–hugs, Julierose

    Hello,
What does your advent calendar measure? I can figure out how to make it, I just want to get the scale right. Thanks!
