Free Fabric Fix! Giveaway From a Fellow Fabric Junky

I am a fabric junky who likes to give back to my fellow fabri-holics. To win this giveaway, all you have to do is answer my challenge correctly. This challenge will have TWO winners. Prizes are as follows, and instructions are below.
Not too shabby for a freebie. The beauties in the first photo above are called Honey Buns by Moda. They contain an assortment of 1.5″ x 44″ strips, usually about 44 strips per bun.The second photo is a charm pack by Moda which is a fabric collection of 5″ squares, typically with about 44 squares per pack (I promise I wont sneak any squares to keep for myself 🙂 I will ship the prize to each winner, and I’m willing to ship internationally as well.

  • 1st place winner: One honey bun of your choice, plus the charm pack.
  • 2nd place winner: One honey bun.

Challenge: Below are three up-close photos of items that are used for crafting. Can you guess what they are? 🙂 The first person to respond with the correct answer for all three photos will be the 1st place winner. The 2nd place winner will be drawn randomly from the names of all other responders who answer correctly, or have the most correct answers if nobody else can get all three.

How to Respond: Email me your 3 answers to QuiltingInTheRain@gmail.com AND respond to this post with the following: your first name, where you are from, how long you’ve been sewing/quilting, and include an affirmation of your sick fabric addiction. I will determine the 1st place winner based on the timing of your email response.

My love of fabric? Let's just say there are some fabric pieces in EVERY room of the house, kitchen and garage included. But not in the bathroom, just 'cuz.

    (just sent you an email!)
    Suzan
Berks County, Pennsylvania (right next to Lancaster County)
I never took "home ec" so I didn't sew until I was 14. I learned by watching my mother. The first thing I made was my Easter dress with eyelet trim around the square neckline. (Pretty gutsy for the first time out!) I started quilting when I moved back to Pennsylvania from Seattle in 2002.
Proof of my fabric addiction? I spent 3 hours in 2 quilt shops yesterday because of a measly 10% off coupon!

The pressure is on… time is precious now. I just emailed you my responses to the three clues. I am living in a remote community in Northwestern Ontario, Canada (way out in the sticks). My addiction to fabric started at a young age… one that I didn't realize until a few years ago!! Even though I have been quilting now for just over a dozen years, it has only been the last couple of years that I have been building a stash and I just can't help it when we go into the city, there absolutely has to be one stop at a fabric store. Can you believe that one time my dh actually gave me a half hour time limit because we still had a 4 hour drive home!! I almost died in the shop around all the patrons when he said this!!

  9. Elizabeth D. October 11, 2010 at 12:37 pm #

Hi, I'm Elizabeth, and I'm a fabric-a-holic. Big-time. I drive 30 miles to my nearest quilt shop, even though sometimes it's just to roam the store for inspiration. I have over 15 online stores bookmarked in my browser, and have shopped at just about every one of them in the last month or two! I live in Tampa, and have been sewing for less than a year – about 10 months now.

Hi, I'm Cat from Michigan! I've been sewing and quilting on and off for the last 10 years or so. I am a huge fabric junky and if I had my way I'd have bolts of fabric all over the house! Of course then I'd be poor so I've had to learn to strike some sort of balance between need and WANT ;-).

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. VickiT October 13, 2010 at 8:29 pm #

Hello! I'm Vicki from IL. I started sewing forever ago it seems; over 30+ yrs(we won't discuss how many years that "+" is equal to. hehe But, I had to take a long time off for a number of those years to work full time (2 jobs a number of years) and to raise my 3 boys, two of which are twins. About 5 yrs ago after I remarried my new (and much improved) husband spoiled me and bought me a Viking D1 embroidery machine and still continues buying me all the goodies Viking keeps releasing. He remodeled a bedroom when our last boy moved out and off to college into a fabulous sewing room with hardwood flooring, tons of shelves up high on the wall, a nice tv shelf near the ceiling out of my way and then, since I have this fabric obsession (is that more than an addiction?), he turned the closet into a large shelving unit area which I have since totally filled up. And now I am moving on to learn quilting. I'm hoping to make table runners for everyone this holiday so I must buy more fabric you know.I'm quite sure hubby would love to see me win fabric however. LOL I KNOW our checkbook would.

Arg! I *though* I left a comment when I sent my email on the 10th, but it's not here! Let me try again…

I'm Evelyn, from Redmond WA (hi neighbor!). I've been sewing for 30 years, quilting for about 2 years. I'm so addicted to fabric that I tried (and apparently failed) to enter your giveaway using my iPhone while on vacation! 🙂 And then I even came back to check on it! Actually, I don't need more fabric – I just thought your giveaway was a fun one!

  16. A Girl October 16, 2010 at 10:51 pm #

Hi, I'm Ann from Tampa, FL. My mom taught me to sew when I was about 10 or 12 and I have been quilting for about 15 years. I am so addicted to fabric that I not only do I have a sizable quilting stash, I can't let go of the clothes my babies wore. I am turning those into quilts as well.

  17. Elizabeth October 17, 2010 at 7:00 am #

Hello, I'm Elizabeth from southern California and I've been quilting for a year now. Even though I haven't been quilting for long, I already have WAY more fabric stashed than I'll be able to use for awhile. It's hard to resist buying beautiful fabric when you might not be able to get a particular line later!! Thanks for the giveaway.

Hi there fellow fabric-a-holic, I began sewing at the tender age of 7 on an ancient Singer my Nan had passed on to my Mum. I was an outa control, spend all the money I earned at the Local Fabric Shop before I walked out the door kinda girl. I loved to make clothes (OBSESSIVELY) but then I discovered patchwork and that's when the extent of my problem really became apparent. It has been an 18 year addiction with no sign of rehabilitation being effective any time soon. My family just shake their heads now when I attempt to sneak a new purchase into the house….I heard whispers of an Intervention being planned.
So, hell yeah! Please enter me in your giveaway!
Oh, (and I didn't sneak a peep at the answers first!)
    1. Feed Dogs
    2.Yo Yo maker
    3.Fusible webbing stuff

  19. iwillmakecrafts October 17, 2010 at 5:35 pm #

I'm Gwen from Minnesota. I started quilting 15 years ago, but just picked it up again.

Sign of my addiction? I have been picking fabric up for three or four years, even though I didn't get a sewing machine of my own until last January…yikes!

  20. Weatherbee ;) October 18, 2010 at 2:35 pm #

Hi! I'm Teresa, and I generally just say I'm from Seattle! (small world huh?!) But to someone else from Washington, I would say that I grew up in Burien, and after moving all over the country have moved back to Renton. 😉

I grew up with my mom sewing all the time, I remember playing with random scraps all over the floor, the hum of her sewing machine, and I love the sound scissors make on fabric…especially pinking shears. I didn't start collecting fabric for myself until I became pregnant about 4 years ago. My stash slowly grew and grew, and I eventually re-taught myself how to sew just last year.

Of course, I had to have a collection first before I actually started DOING something with it. Now I'm addicted! I've recently found quilting and although I've only 'officially' finished one small quilt, I'm dedicated to searching out awesome fabrics to make future quilts with!

I love all fabrics, and can't throw anything away for fear that it might just be the 'perfect' piece needed in a project down the road! 🙂

Okay, that was WAY too long! Anyways…thank you for the awesome challenge, and beautiful fabrics!

    ~Teresa

Thanks for the yummy giveaway 😀
    the answers are;

    1. Sewing Machine Feed Dogs
    2. A YO-YO maker
    3. Fusible webbing

    I'm Sarah from Sri Lanka!
I've been sewing on and off but for the past 3 years I seriously wanted to sew my own clothes, I have been sewing using my mom's machine and last year my husband bought a basic sewing machine for me 😀

Well, I still have several fabric bought with the intention of making some clothes for me but that never stops me from buying something new if I fall in "love" with a particular fabric ;D

    Thanks again 😀
